Work in Progress: Joann Sfar Draws from Memory
Wednesday, April 28, 1:30 pm, Sundance Kabuki Cinemas
1881 Post Street (at Fillmore)
Free admission; ticket required

This work-in-progress screening of a film by Sam Ball tracks Joann Sfar, director of Gainsbourg (Je t'aime . . . moi non plus) (featured in this year's Festival) and author of The Rabbi's Cat and Klezmer on an odyssey through the dual Algerian and Eastern European family heritage that is the wellspring of his work on paper. The excerpt will be followed by a discussion with Ball (1996 and 2009 Golden Gate Award winner) about the pleasures and perils of representing well-known artists on the screen.
